Now that we are halfway through the school year, the studio is full of artwork. Younger students are constantly inspired by the older students' artwork!
This 2nd grader started with a drawing of a pot he got in Mexico over the summer. After drawing it, he decided to incorporate weaving and collage materials over it. The final artwork was given to his mom.
The Studio Habits of Mind are a pedagogical framework that promotes artistic behaviors in a classroom setting. Two 2nd graders teamed up and created a race track out of paper. They spent 4-5 class periods planning and building their creation, and had help from other classmates along the way! Kindergarteners are naturals in the Saber Studio. Students use centers at the tables, and have a choice of drawing, blocks, painting and collage every class. There are usually 2-3 temporary centers as well. Students learn by exploring and playing with the materials available. Kindergarteners are naturals in the Saber Studio.
